Balance

on Feb.04, 2012, under Brainstorming

Balance
a monitor showing a heartbeat
dynamic into a paper sheet
small changes don’t leave an imprint
they must beat faster, as fast as a sprint

White Noise
papers, screens, artificial light
forcing inside when outside is night
stripping parts of who I am (was?)
damn, yet another pause

Dark
inside or outside into darkness falls
light can’t change the color of walls
how could one see that outside is white
when there’s no heat, no sun, no light?

Side note:
it’s been a while since I wrote anything,
parts of this segment feel forced to me,
others are not.

Green Smoothie

on Jan.15, 2012, under Veg

Today I decided to add something that might sound a little odd at first,
but I definitely recommend it!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Huge Apple (a red delicious, just about 350 gr, it’s HUGE!)
  • 1 Orange (juiced, not whole)
  • 1 whole Clementine
  • 1 slice of Ginger (amazing for flavor, especially for people who usually don’t like ginger!)
  • 1 handful of Spinach (oh yeah) + a couple of lemon grass leaves
  • 1 Multi Vitamin tablet

Verdict:
9/10

The Spinach definitely gave it a green-fresh taste, very refreshing!
The best thing to drink before going for a workout, have a good one.

Shake 3

on Dec.10, 2011, under Veg

Today I made an amazing Pineapple&Raspberry shake!
What a way to start the weekend…

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Pineapple (the sweeter the better, get the Yellow/Orange ones)
  • 1 Box (125 gr) of Raspberries (living in Berlin? At the Market on Kottbusser Brücke they cost 1 Euro for 2-3 boxes)
  • 1 Banana (so the Pienapple & Raspberries wouldn’t be too dominant)
  • half a cup Soy milk (not necessary if you have a strong blender, water is also ok)
  • Iron tablet (doesn’t add flavor, but why not).

Verdict:
10/10
This is one of those shakes that remind me why I bought my Blender.
Simply put – Amazing.

Shake 2

on Dec.09, 2011, under Veg

Today’s shake turned out a little heavy.
I think I should’ve put a little more soy milk and a little less dates.

Ingredients:
2 Bananas
1 Apple (pretty large)
1 Pear
5-6 Dates (one of the most delicious fruits of all time)
A small piece of Ginger
A cup of soy milk
A vitamin D tablet (not a must, but why not).

Verdict:
7/10
Tastes very good, but just too damn thick,
It’s all about proportions..

Shakes

on Dec.07, 2011, under Veg

For the past 2 months I’ve been drinking
every single morning 1 Liter fruit shake.

This is probably one of the best things I’ve done for myself.
It’s pretty much like an Energy bomb. Wakes me up completely.
(of course I can’t say the same about the 1 hour ride to the Uni)

Red Hot Chili Peppers at O2 World

on Dec.05, 2011, under Berlin

Last night I went to see one of the bands I’ve been hoping to see since I was a child -
The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The show was amazing! I seriously can’t believe I actually saw such an amazing band,
only 30 mins away from home. Amazing.

talking to food

on Dec.02, 2011, under Brainstorming

I was talking to my food
but it was the kind of father-son talk,
of being disappointed for a bad grade or something.
in a calm but firm voice saying things like “I am very disappointed than you”
stressing the word disappointed so the child would understand what it is your are trying to pass.

In fact, it was grounded properly,
much like the way a child might not “fit in”
with the school system and thus get bad grades,
the texture of a certain part of my food wasn’t fitting in with the big casserole.
But who am I to tell him he should fit in?

perhaps he’s right, perhaps they are wrong.

Pebbles of Myself

on Oct.29, 2011, under Brainstorming

The Sun, the Stars, the Tears of Mars.
I am awaken to a sensation that would heal all scars.
The child that had grown to this man.
Learning to walk, on the shore, in the sand.
Some things went right, some went wrong.
Throwing Pebbles, where you there? Where you there all along?

Excitement feeds me, on the energy you emit.
A forgotten candle has been lit.
And though I can’t help but admit.
It’s only a matter of time until reality will hit.

Okara madness! (or: Recipe for Okara Burgers)

on Oct.16, 2011, under Berlin, Veg

Friday afternoon I made 3 Liters of Soy Milk
(which now I can say in retrospect… that was waaaay too much).
At any rate, the process making of soy milk is pretty simple:

Put the soy beans in water for 8-12 hours
(I just put them and forget about it for a day),
Put them in the blender with water in the ratio of 1/2.5
(1 cup soy, 2.5 cups water, or 2? or 3? just try it and see),
Then cook the mix until it boils (very recommended, makes it easier to strain afterwards), Wait until it cools down and strain it through a cloth (I use a kitchen towel).
