Going Veg

on Oct.09, 2011, under Brainstorming, Veg

As some of you may know, for about a month now I haven’t been eating meat.
Last week (well actually on the 29th of September) I decided to become a Vegetarian.

I think my major factors were:

  • Environment
Did you know that the meat industry causes more CO2 emissions than all of our Transport combined?
that includes all of the Cars, Airplanes, Ships, everything!
Did you also know that for 1KG of beef the industry uses 16,000 Liters of water (?!)
Did you know that 80% of the Corn in the US is for feeding animals?
although 17.2 Million households are food insecure
Turns out even the UN agrees,
    Meat Is NOT Green
  • Health
Heart disease is killing more than 600,000 people a year in the US,
and it is the major cause of death for people over 65.
The connection between eating animals products and Heart disease is
    undeniable.
  • Compassion
Although it should be the first, it wasn’t the factor that actually made me move
to being a vegetarian. This factor is getting more important these days though.
A picture is worth a thousand words, and a video has about 30 frames per second.
    Meet your Meat
    Farm to Fridge
If I could recommend anyone to do something,
is to at least look at what they are eating on a daily basis.
This is something that enters your body, that is suppose to nourish you.
Public health and profit usually collide, a good customer is a sick, meat eating one.
(gets to buy more meat, and medications)
When was the last time you saw a commercial for
Spinach? How about Hamburger? Coke?
Must Watch:
Calling something with a fancy name (Hamburger, Sausage, Veal)
should hide the truth about what it is.
Remember, you deserve to be informed, it is your right to know
what you eat.
