Second entry- an Alice story
by diminished on Oct.28, 2010, under Uncategorized
I’ve decided to upload something I wrote not long ago, something that doe snot sound too dark and childish, and not so morbid and sad, as most of my works. So this little story requires a discription:
Since some years I’ve been writing about a male character I named Alice who goes out of the mirror (a combination of the real Alice in Wonderland, and Alice Cooper ^^). So this character has a lot of variational stories and adventures, and this one is the most interesting in my opinion, also because I never wrote in such a style of sentences-rhymes-sentences. Hope you will enjoy.

One cloudy day I was sitting alone in my room, thinking nothing, as if on a regular day. The sky was calm and yet I could have sensed a rain was about to pour, maybe the first one for this Winter, since we really did not have any fall at our place of residence. So I sat and a thought had slipped to my mind, pretending not to be there, and yet it was fully alive:
?What if I am to be divine
,In my mind a question was asked
“?And if so then, who am this “I
.If I wore more than only one mask
So it could have been one average day, and yet something had moved and even the sky turned pale a bit, and began to grow darker clouds of wondering… And as I approached the mirror in my room and sat in front of it, I began to look closely inside to see if my reflection is correct. But oh, the thing I saw was no “am”, or “I” or not even a “me”. It was something, someone else. It, or perhaps he, had rather pale skin than me and his eyes were brighter, almost grey. His hair was messy, shoulder length with the color of hued blonde, rare and unpleasant for the sight of well behaved people. Should I add he was sickly thin…?
!Oh my, this isn’t my face answering me
! This won’t be my reflected soul
?But who are you, and what will you be
?What did you came here for
As I talked the reflected character only gazed wondering at me, perhaps asking the same. But why was that even reasonable for a strange face to appear in one’s mirror? Bound with mystery as I stared at him, the being has started to speak with a slick hoarse voice:
?My friend, oh dear, why can’t you see
,It has been so clear, at least for me
That the mirror’s a thing to show and reflect
All that’s around, human form or object.
:But this explanation wasn’t very convincing. And I replied
?I am not certain of this, how can it be
?Are you having the shape of me
,If you are reflected in there
?Means you should live or appear somewhere
And the odd guest laughed to himself, rolling his eyes, and from what I could see over the mirror, he leaned his arms on a table of some sort, looking directly into me.
My friend, oh dear, it has been known
,That in a mirror a reality is shown
And if your reflections mismatch
It seems you have someone attached
To the little mind of yours, sitting in your own hat
It seems to be as simple as that.
My eyes were open wide. Was he serious? If he lived inside of me how come I’ve never noticed? And if he is so alive how come he never showed up? I was out of anything to say when suddenly the figure stood up in his place and handed me his palm.
! Stand up, take my hand
- Oh I’m certainly not going in there! – The man giggled with disrespect.
! You? Who’s talking about you getting in? Pull my hand and let me out
! No! Who are you? What is your name? What are you doing here? Tell me
I do not have time for this, please; I really need your help! – His voice softened – only you are here and only on you I can count right now!
I did as he asked, grabbed the skinny pale hand, it was cold yet I’ve noticed his fingernails were clean and well kept. And then, when I pulled his arm I was unable to stand on my two feet, as I was drawn into the glass abyss in front of me, right into the stranger’s arms. And before I could notice, he was standing now in front of me, but in the opposite space, inside my room. I’ve pushed myself towards this barrier through which I’ve passed, but it was solid as glass. I clinched my fists and tried to break out but nothing helped.
,What have you done?! I called
!Please let me out
!This is insane, you are sick
!?How could you pull off such a monstrous trick
:But the figure, who was now standing proud of his deed, only smiled back and replied to me
!My friend, oh my dear, thank you so much
I’ve been waiting so long for you to realize
That I am as human as you, even a bit more alive.
!Now with your help, I can be free instead
:He waved at me and turned himself towards the door, when over his shoulder he smiled for the last time
:And if you wish, I can give you one last advice
!Don’t let your creations get over your head
